I met Freweini Mebrahtu during my senior year of college and was blown away by her mission to end period poverty and empower young girls in Ethiopia and beyond.

Several years later as an art director at The Bloc, I brought on Freweini’s organization Dignity Period as a pro bono client. Shortly thereafter, Freweini became the 2019 CNN Hero of the Year.

We created The Dignity Chair campaign which brings awareness to the 51% of girls in Ethiopia who drop out of school largely because of shame surrounding their period. I was slated to speak alongside Freweini at The Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity 2020. ̌
